I am so excited about today’s post! There are tons of mattresses on the market and trying to narrow it down to get the right one for you can be a challenge. It’s estimated that we spend about a third of our lives sleeping so getting the right one is pretty darn important. Luckily, it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune to get a good night’s sleep. I recently partnered with Denver Mattress Co. to share their Aspen Mattress Collection with you.
Denver Mattress is a family-owned company with stores all across the United States. They carry a variety of mattress brands including Sealy and TEMPUR-pedic. They also carry Doctor’s Choice which is part of their personal brand, but they are excited to now also be carrying their own exclusive bed-in-a-box line as well, The Aspen Collection, and I am here to say I am definitely a fan! We’ve been sleeping on our new mattress for right around 3 months now. I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you as to why we went with an Aspen mattress and what it’s done for our sleep!
Before I go into too much detail, I want to preface this by telling you guys why we were in the market for a new mattress in the first place. Before the Aspen, I had been sleeping on the same spring mattress for 6 years and another 2 years when my boyfriend and I moved in together. While mattresses are meant to last for 10 years or so, this particular one was on its last leg around 8. It was getting to the point where we could no longer sleep comfortably. It felt like the springs were poking us while we slept, leaving side and back pain lingering long after we got out of bed for the day. We would fight over sharing the middle of the bed where it wasn’t as bad. We couldn’t get in or out of bed quietly without disturbing each other because the mattress and box spring would squeak. Basically, we were constantly uncomfortable and never felt well-rested. I couldn’t wait to fall asleep at night just so I could forget about how uncomfortable I was (sad, right?). It was miserable to say the least.
The Denver Mattress In-Store Experience:
We worked with Brad, the store manager, at our local Denver Mattress who has been with the company for over 12 years. He helped us determine which mattress would be best for us and we were highly impressed with his knowledge regarding the mattress industry. I learned a lot of useful things like how to test which mattress is best for you, how often you should rotate your mattress (every 2-4 months in case you were wondering), what types of mattresses are ideal for different body types and much more. Brad walked us through each mattress type and was very helpful in helping us select one that best suited us.
The Aspen Collection:
The Aspen Collection are all memory foam mattresses with cooling technology which is designed to help you fall asleep faster and stay in a deeper sleep cycle longer. This line of bed-in-a-box mattresses each comes with a 10 year warranty and they are some of the most affordable on the market. They are also eco-friendly (all the materials used in this collection are green/plant-based) and they plant a tree for every Aspen mattress they sell which is pretty cool too. There are three different mattress types to choose from:
Aspen HD Memory Foam Mattress
This one is the softest of the three and also the least expensive. You basically sink into it when you lay down. This mattress is best for curvier side sleepers and someone who doesn’t want much firmness to their mattress at all. It was so so comfortable (great for someone who loves a very plush bed with little to no firmness), but we didn’t feel like it had the amount of support we needed so it was on to the next.
Aspen 2.0 Firm Air Foam Mattress
The 2.0 mattress is the firmest of the three so if you’re looking for an extra firm mattress, this one’s for you. It’s memory foam, but with the amount of firmness, it will only minimally contour to your body. This mattress is best for someone a little taller or with a straighter spine. We liked this one too, but it was just a bit too firm for our taste so we moved on to try the last one.
Aspen 3.0 Plush Air Foam Mattress
The Aspen 3.0 was a winner for us! It was a perfect blend of not too hard and not too soft, yet you can still sink into it. It conforms to the body really well and takes its shape again within seconds of getting out of bed. This mattress is ideal for the majority of people and is so so comfortable.
So what do we think about our new mattress?
When we brought it home, it was so easy to unbox. We just unrolled it on the living room floor, fluffed it a bit and it was good to go! You can check out my unboxing video here if you want to see how easy it is.
I wanted to sleep on our new mattress consistently for a while before I wrote a review so I could give you guys as much detail as possible. We’ve been sleeping on our new mattress and box spring for about 3 months now and I can’t say enough good things about it! The minute I lay down, I can literally feel the tension in my back leaving my body. I wake up feeling so refreshed and well-rested. I no longer feel the constant pain in my side and the bed no longer squeaks when we get in or out of it which is awesome. Our old mattress and box spring would squeak so loudly when either one of us would get in or out of bed that it would wake the other person up. Talk about frustrating when you’re trying to hang on to that last little bit of sleep before you have to get up!
Another feature I absolutely love about the Aspen is that it has cooling technology. When we first got the mattress, I thought the fact that it was cool to the touch was a neat feature, but I wasn’t really convinced that it was going to have any impact on the way we sleep, especially being underneath a set of sheets. Well, I was wrong! Previously, it was not uncommon for us to wake up somewhat sweaty in the morning from the heat of our sheets and blankets (gross, I know, but just being honest). Since we’ve been sleeping on this mattress, I can honestly say that I don’t think I have woken up sweating once.
As I mentioned above, this technology is also intended to help you fall asleep faster and get into and stay in a deeper sleep. I don’t know if I can attribute how much better I’ve been sleeping to the cooling feature or just how generally comfortable I am now, but either way, this mattress is definitely working wonders for me. I used to wake up multiple times a night and never felt like I really reached a good deep sleep, more often than not leaving me feeling completely exhausted day after day. Now, I fall asleep almost as soon as my head hits the pillow and I rarely wake up during the night.
I am a homebody and live for being cozy in bed. I also spend a lot of time there – either working on my laptop, reading or watching tv. It’s been really great finally being able to get comfortable in bed!
How can you get an Aspen Mattress?
The Aspen Collection is exclusive to Denver Mattress. They have many locations throughout the US which I would recommend going in-store if possible to try them out. However, you can also easily order from them online. Hopefully, I was able to provide you with plenty of details to help you determine which mattress is right for you. If you have any questions, drop them in the comments!
XOXO,
Ashley

Hi — thanks for the review. I just bought the Aspen for my son who loves the cooling technology. Would you recommend a mattress cover and a fitted sheet? He’s afraid that he won’t be able to feel the cooling technology. Also, I’m assuming the fitted cover that comes with the mattress is non-washable? Thank you
Hi Karen!
Sorry I didn’t see this from you sooner. I just have my regular set of sheets on mine, nothing special, but they are a heavier material and I still find the temp to be pretty comfortable. I think he would be fine with some lightweight sheets. As far as the zippered cover that it comes with, I’m pretty sure you can wash that, but you may want to check in with Denver to confirm (I need to double check as well!). Hope that helps!
