DIY Date Night Jar

September 4, 2017 Comment : 1

We live in one of those little big towns where it seems like there isn’t really much to do outside of going to a bar and that gets old after a while. We are both adventurous people, but most of the time, it’s hard to think of activities to do so I decided to get a little crafty over this long holiday weekend…

I created our own date night jar!

It cost me less than $10 to make with supplies from the dollar store. All I needed was a small cheap vase, a pack of colorful popsicle sticks and some heart-shaped cutouts and jute for a little something extra. I made a list of TONS of ideas we could do as a couple. Then, I separated them into categories of free dates, cheap dates and dates that would require a little more money and/or planning with the popsicle sticks matching each category.

Here are just a few of my personal favorites…

  • Goodwill Date – Go to Goodwill together and each person has a time limit and a budget to pick out a tacky outfit for the other. Once you’re all dressed up, take on the town together and act like it’s your normal attire. Take it up a notch and give each other different names to go by for the night.
  • Close your eyes and pick a random city on the map. Wherever you land, plan a weekend getaway there.
  • Bob Ross Paint Night – Go to the dollar store and get a cheap set of paint and brushes and paper. Turn on an episode of Bob Ross, grab a glass of wine, and create your own masterpiece.
  • The Penny Date – Grab a penny, get in the car and pick a number between 10 and 20 (this will be the number of times you flip the coin). Heads is right, tails is left. Leave your street and every time you come to an intersection, flip the coin to determine your direction. Once you reach the last number, stop there and make a date.

Here are 20 more ideas to add to your list!

I’ll share some pictures and stories about some of our date adventures as we make our way through the jar. I’d love to hear some of your ideas to add to our list that we may not have thought of! Drop them in the comments below 🙂

XOXO,

Ashley
