I don’t have a lot of free time, but when I occasionally find some, one of my favorite things to do is read. My favorite books are usually the motivational/self-help type. I know that sounds super cheesy, but I seriously find them so motivating when I need to get out of a rut. Here are four inspirational books that I’ve been reading over the past few weeks that I couldn’t wait to share with you!
You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life
by Jen Sincero
Ok, if we’re being completely honest, this is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. If you’re looking for a great self-help book that’s not too preach-y, but motivates the crap out of you, you need to be reading this book right now. Sincero’s blunt, no-nonsense approach is totally relatable with the perfect amount of humor mixed in. I found myself highlighting so many passages throughout the book that really resonated with me. She talks about the power of positive thinking, the benefits of meditation, why you need to rewrite your story and the importance of forgiving others for your own piece of mind – just to name a few topics. This book is as badass as its name.
Girl Code: Unlocking the Secrets to Success, Sanity, and Happiness for the Female Entrepreneur
by Cara Alwill Leyba
This is an awesome book for any woman with a boss girl mindset. It contains the author’s own path to success along with a collection of interviews from other business-savvy female entrepreneurs and like-minded girl bosses sharing what has gotten them where they are today. From the beginning, Leyba talks about why she believes that there is enough success and money to go around for everyone which I think is so important to be aware of. It’s easy to get discouraged if you believe that there are only so many opportunities out there to be successful when you’re trying to find your own. She talks about the importance of women connecting and working together and how powerful that can be rather than working against each other. She also discusses how to deal with negativity as you grow in your business and why you need to set your fears of chasing for dreams aside and just go for it. This is a great resource for anyone looking for some boss girl inspo and a boost of confidence to pursue your dreams.
by Sophia Amoruso
I took a trip to Florida recently and took this book along with me. In just the short 2.5 hour flight there, I started this book and read all the way through 135 pages. I seriously couldn’t put it down. Reading Sophia’s story from her own life and how she went from dumpster-diving and working dead-end jobs to creating an incredible business and becoming a self-made millionaire is so inspiring. Her witty and inspirational auto-biography style book is full of useful tips and motivation for the entrepreneurial woman or just someone who enjoys a good rags-to-riches story.
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing
by Marie Kondo
One of my goals for 2018 is to minimize the amount of “stuff” I have been lugging around for far too long and instead fill my life with experiences and things that genuinely make me happy. The concept behind this book is exactly that (only surrounding yourself with things that bring you joy) and it is an absolutely awesome guide to getting rid of the excess. Kondo explains her simple-to-follow method for decluttering and organizing your space. Reading this book will get you out of an organizational rut and into a perfectly tidy home.
I’m always looking for great books to read. What are some of your favorite motivational books you’ve read that you would recommend? Let me know in the comments below!
Have a fabulous week gals!
XOXO,
Ashley
