Today, I am excited to be sharing one of my favorite local businesses with you! My good friend Holly has been my go-to gal for all things skincare for the last 2 years. Aside from her bubbly personality and contagious laugh, I love going to her because she knows her products, services and clients incredibly well. After spending the last 15 years working for a local salon where she was not only one of the lead estheticians, but also a regular instructor at the local cosmetology school, she decided to pursue her dreams of opening up her own business, Holly Rose Skincare.
I am super proud of her, not only because she is my friend, but because I love seeing a fellow female entrepreneur out there making a name for herself. I remember how nervous she was to venture out on her own, but business is definitely booming for her. This month, she’s celebrating her first year as a business owner!
She has the cutest little studio space located inside Parlour 17 Salon on the west side of Springfield. There is a cozy waiting room when you walk in, accompanied with coffee and magazines. Holly’s spa room is tucked off to the left, neatly organized with her products aligning the walls and accentuated with rose gold pieces. She carries a variety of high quality products from brands including Vie Collection, Sugarlash, Phytoceane and Sara Happ lip masks, exfoliants and glosses. She usually has music playing in the background which is nice for a relaxing atmosphere (unless you’re like me and you just spend the whole time chatting and catching up).
Holly recently started doing lash lifts and tints so of course I wanted to try out this new service. I never do much of anything with my lashes other than mascara so I was really excited to see what a lash lift could do for me.
A lash lift basically relaxes the lashes and then two additional cream solutions are used to lengthen and set them. Then, they are tinted to give them the look of wearing mascara without actually applying any. A silicone shield is used to give a natural curl/lift to the lashes after they’re relaxed. This gives the eyes a more open look. Lashes are glued with a safe adhesive to the silicone shield and then solutions are applied and removed. A hydrating nourishing lotion is then applied to protect the life of the last lift and recondition the lash line.
A lash lift is not harmful to your lashes and the process is painless and takes about an hour to do. The lift is intended to last 6-8 weeks before any touch up is needed (mine lasted about 6-7 noticeably). They are very low maintenance, but you can’t get them wet (no eye makeup, shower, swimming or sweating) for 24 hours after you get them done. After that, they’re good to go!
Here are my before and after pictures! The third picture is two days after I had my lash lift only wearing just a little mascara which enhances the lift even further. So happy with the results!
Aside from lash lifts, she also offers a variety of other services including:
- Waxing
- Facials
- Hydrodermabrasion
- Microdermabrasion
- Makeup Application
- Glycolic Exfoliants
- Henna Brow Tints
