I had heard great things about the Loews Hotel chain, but hadn’t yet had a chance to stay with them. So when we went to Chicago for a quick mini-getaway last week, we took the opportunity to stay at The Loews Chicago Downtown Hotel to see what all the hype was about. Every single Loews hotel is designed differently so no matter where you stay, you’re bound to have a unique experience. Loews Chicago was no exception – read on to see all of the details of our incredible stay! Sorry if this is a long post guys, but you know I love giving you as much as detail as possible 🙂
Just one block from The Riverwalk and two blocks from Lake Michigan and Navy Pier, Loews Chicago is right in the middle of it all. There is definitely no shortage of things to do in the area. I really loved how convenient the hotel is to so many restaurants and things to do. The hotel has been open since March 2015, but they keep everything so immaculate, you would think it just opened last week. The all-glass exterior towers over the Chicago skyline and isn’t hard to spot.
This place is absolutely stunning from floor to ceiling – hands down one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever been to. It’s very modern and elegant without feeling stuffy. In fact, it’s very cozy and I am not kidding when I tell y’all this hotel is literally its own vibe. One thing that stood out to me most was the major attention to detail in literally every aspect of the hotel. Trust me, it really shows – as you’ll see in the photos here!
The lobby is beyond gorgeous and welcoming (and did I mention cozy?). Everything is based off of 90 degree angles. The tiles in the lobby floor are designed to reflect the Chicago skyline and they have an incredible piece of artwork intended to symbolize The Great Chicago Fire. Even the elevators are lined with poetry and the hallway leading to them are embellished with pretty floral designs. Also, fun fact: The owner of the Loews hotels actually sits in every single chair in every hotel to make sure they meet his standards. If that isn’t top notch attention to quality, I don’t know what is.
We stayed on the 14th floor. Our room was very contemporary with neutral gray tones which I loved. Plenty of room to make yourself at home and the bed was really comfortable. There’s an in-room mini fridge with beverages available for purchase (no room for personal items though). They also provide you with a Keurig coffeemaker, free Wi-Fi, robes and a flat screen TV. You also have access to the spa, fitness center and pool on the 3rd floor. Overall, a really great place to relax and take in the Windy City.
The floor-to-ceiling windows gave us incredible views overlooking Lake Michigan and Navy Pier – I could see the ferris wheel from our window! Day or night, I can promise you this view will not disappoint.
The bathroom was also very modern and chic. Loved the tiled glass shower and how spacious the bathroom was. Plenty of room/counter space for all of your travel necessities – especially if you’re an overpacker like me!
There are several options for dining at Loews Chicago. ETA Restaurant + Bar is located on the first floor and is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails. ETA has that old-time rustic charm and the design aesthetic is really on point with the rest of the hotel. I wish we would have had time to stop here for a bite to eat – the menu looked amazing!
The hotel is also home to Streeterville Social, a rooftop gourmet eatery and hot spot for cocktails and stellar views. Unfortunately, they were already closed for the season during our trip, but this looks like it would definitely be a great place to go in the summer. Room service is also available 24 hours a day. If you’re just looking for a casual and comfortable place to grab some drinks, they have a full service bar in the lobby. Also, they have a Starbucks located on the first floor of the hotel (open 6 am – 5 pm daily) which is always major bonus points in my book. PS can we talk about how pretty this Starbucks barn door is? Like I said, the attention to detail is truly just above and beyond here!
They also have a really fun promotion going on right now called The Bellhop Bar. The mini-bar is set up inside of an old steamer trunk, reminiscent of days past. We had a great time trying out some different specialty cocktails! They will be hosting this event in the lobby every evening from 5-7 pm through January 2019. Be sure to check it out for a fun and unique pop-up experience!
Overall, we loved Loews Chicago! The hotel was a true luxury experience at an affordable cost. The staff we encountered were just awesome – all super polite, accommodating and just generally great to chat with. You can tell they genuinely enjoy being there. The details that go into making this place one of a kind far exceeded our expectations. We were truly so impressed with every aspect of the hotel and would definitely go back!
Have you stayed with Loews before? I’d love to hear about your experience! Let me know in the comments!
XOXO,
Ashley
This hotel looks awesome!! What a great location, too!
We’ve only ever eaten an appetizer at Loews but have since put it on our bucket list to stay at someday!
