Malibu Airbnb Review: Charming Coastal Hideaway

June 8, 2018 Leave a Comment

We recently took a vacation to Southern California to celebrate our two year anniversary. We knew we wanted to spend time exploring all that LA has to offer (be sure to check out my LA travel guide for recommendations!), but also wanted to spend some time closer to the beach. I have always wanted to go to star-studded Malibu, but never made it past Santa Monica (which is just a few miles down the road). Needless to say, I was thrilled when I stumbled across the cutest Malibu Airbnb AND it was affordable. This was our first time staying at an Airbnb and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Nestled between mountains and the beautiful Pacific ocean, the views are stunning whichever way you look.

The guest house is just as fabulous. You enter through a gate off of the main house and step into your own personal oasis. The backyard common area is adorned with string lights, succulents and a cozy wooden table perfect for enjoying the breeze and sipping a few cocktails.

The interior is tastefully designed with beachy vibes throughout and a modern and clean design. When you walk in, there is a small kitchenette to your right. Most anything you would need is provided (coffee maker, toaster, microwave, refrigerator, utensils, etc.).

Past that, you walk into a studio-style bedroom. There’s a large mirrored closet to your left along with a small dining room table, complete with fresh flowers, magazines about Malibu and wine of course. There is a tv for your convenience, but chances are you won’t spend much (if any) time watching it – too many other things to see and do in the area. Windows align the wall, letting in a ton of natural sunlight. Off to the side, there is a simple bathroom with all the amenities you’ll need provided (hairdryer, towels, bath products, etc.) Also, if you need to do any laundry, there is washer and dryer available for you to use in the garage right off of the guest house.

There is a 3 night minimum, but with the property being conveniently located close to a number of nearby cities and attractions (Santa Monica, LA, beaches, restaurants, hiking and more!), it’s a great little spot to unwind after a day of exploring. It’s also about a 30 minute drive from LAX and check in is available any time after 12 PM. We did not check in until after 1 AM on our first night so late night check in is very convenient here if you need it. Street parking is available (and free!) and the neighborhood is very clean and safe.

Sarah, our host, was an absolute delight. She was incredibly sweet and very responsive anytime I reached out to her with a question regarding our stay. She also provided me with recommendations of things to do in the area which was really helpful. We really enjoyed all of the little details that she’s put into making this place special. She even left us a bottle of wine and fresh lemons straight from her lemon tree. We definitely plan to stay here again!
